What I Designed Today: Business Card Design for Beany Boy Quilts

Here’s my friend’s business cards. I need to blog more about work stuff so that I have copies of them online – since I keep putting off my business site. Ahh…too much to do and so little time.

What I Designed Today: Business Card Design for Hubby

I was renewing my own business cards from moving, then made some for a friend/client of mine, then decided it was time for Don to have an update on his cards, too. What do you think of his cards? They’re reversible to reflect his complex personality. We both love them! Can’t wait for them to arrive in the mail. Small pleasures, people.

Handmade Charlotte – Delightful Blog!

Don’t you love this desk reminiscent of Danish design? You can read about the designer and source on a delightful blog I ran across entitled Handmade Charlotte. Written by Rachel Faucett, the blog is a treasure trove of great ideas and design blended into one. Go on over and take a peek – you will love it. Be sure you have more than 5 minutes, though, because you will wander…

Design Your Own Yoga Mat

Very neat idea – I could perhaps remember all the poses for sun salutation if I had them printed on my mat. Or…my favorite scripture…or my favorite quote…or my kids’ picture…or my own funky design. Great ideas, all! Check out these yoga mats you can design yourself.

Fun Things Spotted on Flickr

Here’s a few things I have loved that I have spotted on Flickr lately. My computer crashed before I had a chance to record the links so – PLEASE – if these are your images, let me know so I can attribute and link to you. They are both really great ideas.

1. A new sampler for the modern age: QWERTY and web icons. How genius is that? Plus who doesn’t appreciate the quote, “Thank you, Internet, for letting me observe so many crazy people from a safe distance.”

2. Decoupage family face eggs. A little freaky and possibly narcissistic (search for your own image eggs, maybe?) but also quite fun and original. Maybe next Easter!

Not Your Grandmother’s Embroidery

I do not know how to embroider. Nada. Zilch. Zip. But I want to learn after looking at these designs at Sublime Stitching. Such great stuff!

Ponoko: Laser Cut Your Own Designs!

I’m posting extra today to make up for several missed postings in the past couple of weeks. Check out this site: Ponoko. You provide the concept and they make it a reality. Very interesting, unique and creative offerings. Check out the blog here. I love all things type so, of course, the helvetica necklace just suits me fine but look at the other stuff – puzzle cars, octopus desk art. Reaffirms to me just how creative people can be: brilliant!

T-Shirt Design Contest: Thinking Green!

Think you can create a t-shirt design based on the concept of thinking green? Check out this design contest here by Threadless. Good luck!

Interesting Business Card Ideas

Photojojo‘s post today is about good business card ideas. I like some of these but I’m not convinced they’re the best I’ve ever seen. Anybody I’ve ever designed business cards for has always been extremely budget conscious – and these days business cards can be had very inexpensively. Custom die cuts and sewing each of 1,000 cards just doesn’t seem worth it to me! I do love seeing other business card ideas, though. The downside is that it always makes me want to redo mine…

Graphic Design by David Wardle

Great typography and design. UK based artist David Wardle has quite a portfolio. He’s also one of the founders of the website Bold & Noble which I posted about earlier here.

Scandinavian Artist Louise Elliott

Beautiful art with a very scandinavian feel. Check out Louise Elliott’s website here.

Cute Valentines Letterpress Cards

I’d never heard of Egg Press before but so glad I ran across them! Cute cards. They also offer this adorable monkey. Check them out here.

Spring Decor – Anna Crafts

Yeah for SPRING! Here goes wishful thinking since it’s still cold and January here in Omaha. I’m anxious for spring – mostly because then I know we will HAVE to be well on our way to Texas. Geesh. This waiting in winter thing is more difficult than I expected – patience schmatience. Very difficult stuff to be in limbo. I’m going to appease my worries with a little spring-like eye candy. The website for the above pics is here and the site includes a blog, craft school and boutique – some of it is still in the works but I’ve seen the magazine. It’s fabulous.

Homemade Pop-Up Christmas Cards!

Well, three Christmas cards and a pig. He was just so cute I had to include him – I guess the pig is symbolic for the new year? Hmmmph. Learn something new every day. Anyway, they all look so easy and adorable and are by Robert Sabuda. You can check out his instructions and patterns here. My kids will love trying these this year but I won’t promise to get any actually mailed…
