Lunch with Friends

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Last Friday (I wish I could repeat this day), I was able to get out with some friends - and their kids - and have a nice casual Panchero’s lunch. Here’s some cute pics of the kiddos - they’re growing too fast! Afterward, I got to do some shopping at Sephora. I’m still reeling.

Christmas Eye Candy

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Spotted online and saved for future purchase and/or to spark new ideas when I’m doing my own crafting. Great colors and design! The jumbo stocking was sent to me by my sister, LeAnne, and is now hanging beautifully on our shiny black front door (really, black. really pretty!). It’s from Pottery Barn Kids. The cable stocking and stuffed, plump fabric candy canes are both from Country Home. The tree skirt is from Company Kids. I can’t remember where the mittens are from…anyone seen these? I hate to post it without credit. That’s what you get for saving inspirational pictures at 3 a.m.

Kitchen Cabinet Decor - What to Put On There?!

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

I like mine blank. Empty. Nothing. BUT — the realtor asked me to put some Christmas items up there. No problem, I say! Um…problem. I am a print designer and not so good with home decor. Here’s what’s up there now. I need suggestions? There are white lights. I wanted to use what I have. The corner with the baskets and trees — all those goodies came from Goodwill the same day the realtor asked me to put something up there. Gotta love Goodwill. I got some fake poinsettia plants for my front porch, too and they are gorgeous. What do you have on your kitchen cabinets? We’ve been taking lots of pictures of the house at various stages. You can see them my house pics flickr photostream if you’re so inclined. I wish I had a collection of antique scandinavian anything but…Grandma Jackson’s stoneware crock & bowl and some Christmas doodads will have to do for now. Be sure to check back as I’m announcing the winner of the Boden sunglasses either later today or tomorrow. She’s from Finland. So, if you’re not from Finland, you can be sure you didn’t win!

Got A Great Idea? Share!

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

Check this out from Seventh Generation. Do you have any idea that might change the world? They are working with JustMeans, a social media platform for people interested in sustainability, to engage folks in an online social happening to promote change. The 2007 Spheres of Influence contest will award $5,000 for one winner to implement a social business idea. The contest ends on December 31, 2008 at midnight. I haven’t come up with a winning idea, yet, but maybe my brilliant readers and friends can! This is one of those things where something like a simple change to current protocol would be the answer…if only I could think of what that would be! Definitely worth some thought… Did I mention that I love Seventh Generation?

Great Site (w/pics!) for Toy Recalls

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

It’s hard to go through those lists of toy recalls without pictures, which is why I’m loving this recall list site from Parents. Be sure to check it over for more recent recalls. There’s great stuff here - recalls on toys, gear, and even a few contests.

Cute, cute stuff. Mostly I love her logo with the sewing needle in it. I love the laptop cases and bags! You can check out her stuff here.

Healthy Meals Under $10

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Found this article today - looked like pretty good meals and they serve at LEAST 4 people. Worth a try, anyway - especially since I went to the grocery store the other day and about passed out at the prices. They really are going up! I figured I wasn’t the only frugal person in search of such recipes. Check them out here.

Amy Butler Designs & Ohdeedoh

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Ummm…delicious fabric and patterns! I’d never visited Amy Butler’s site before but there is a ton of great images there for inspiration and a severe case of gotta-have-it-itis. Be sure to check out her site here (pictures are from her site) as well as the site Amy mentions called ohdeedoh (great design there!). Fun stuff and great design; being a midwestern girl myself, I especially enjoyed the Midwest Modern preview and collection.

Let the Christmas Decor Begin!

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Well, my anti-consumerism streak lasted about 10 minutes, that is, until I received this email from L.L. Bean. I’m still not whipping out the debit card just yet but this greenery does have me drooling. I know there’s nothing like the real thing but I’m thinkin’ it’s a good thing that I have some pretty faux greenery with white lights packed away that might quell the craving just a bit. I guess we’ll be putting up Christmas decor early this year… Plus, I’m thinking it might be the year for gingerbread creations. This igloo is adorable! All pics are from L.L. Bean so be sure to check out their site here.

Online Giveaway T-Shirt Winner!

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

…and the winner is KAREN who said, “Love the shirt! So cute! Count me in.” and then upon hearing she won, said, “Wow, I never win anything!” Can’t really say that anymore, Karen! You chances were good - we had ONLY 5 comments but there were a ton of lurkers (over 150) who didn’t comment. I must have all size Small lurkers. Anyway, congrats to Karen and watch for a new item soon!

Beautiful Acorn Jars

Found on etsy here. Beautiful jars - handmade and oven, microwave, freezer safe. Gotta love’ em. I like all of the sizes. There’s just something cute about acorns, isn’t there?

Cafe Press: Greeting Card Innovations

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Love the Human Fund card (yes, we’re Seinfeld rerun fans).  Some of the designs are fabulous.  Some of the designs are really not my taste. There’s a huge variety at Cafe Press - and it’s because this site allows you to sell your own cards, calendars and other items and prints on demand - fabulous.  It’s like nouveau Ebay or Etsy but for print!  Me likey!  Check the selection out here and click here if you’re interested in selling designs.  I especially enjoyed browsing the political bumper stickers - wow - eye openers!

Lotta Jansdotter Fall Collection

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

I love Lotta’s stuff…this fall isn’t as great as some in the past except I do adore this pattern on the charcoal gray bag. Lovely! Check it out here.

My t-shirts came and I love ‘em. I bought one extra to use as an online giveaway which is great because now they are SOLD OUT in this color! I’m going to leave this one open until next Sunday at midnight to try and get more comments/entries than last time but if I don’t, your chances are good to win. This tee is adorable with jeans. Just leave a comment on this post before midnight on Sunday, November 2nd and you’re entered to win. Shipping is on me!

Great Sales at Brocade Home

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Love this site. Watch carefully and every cool thing on their sale section gets to eventually be another half off (at least that was the last great sale I saw!) - makes the extra shipping for furniture worth it. I’m not too frilly of a person but I just love, love, love these gray and silver duvet covers. Check out the website here and the design blog here.
